2017 STANLEY SLED DOG RENDEZVOUS – CANCELLED

DATE: February 24 - 26, 2017

TIME: 5:00pm/7:30am/8:30am

LOCATION: Stanley Community Building/Mountain Village Resort

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER AND ROAD CONDITIONS.

Stanley is hosting its 8th annual Sled Dog Rendezvous on Saturday, February 25th and Sunday, February 26th.  Check-in for this event begins at 5:00pm on Friday, February 24th, with a Mushers Meeting at 7:00pm at The Stanley Community Building.  On Saturday, race information and check-in are available from 7:30am at the Mountain Village Restaurant, with races starting at 8:30am.  This is a two-day event, with mileage split between Saturday and Sunday (8,20,48 total Mileage/4,10,24 miles per heat/per day).  Skijoring will take place over both days.  Junior races will be held on Saturday only.  Come gather around the bonfire and watch these exuberant dogs and trainers under the backdrop of the Sawtooth Mountains.

2017 ISSA STATE RIDE

DATE: March 3 - 5, 2017

LOCATION: Mountain Village Resort

The Salmon River and Sawtooth Snowmobile Clubs will be hosting the 2017 ISSA (Idaho State Snowmobile Association) State Ride in Stanley, Idaho from March 3 to March 5, 2017. Registration for this event is on-line at www.mountainvillage.com/issa-2017.  Registration deadline is February 20, 2017 and there are three ride options:  Intermediate, Advanced, and Extreme.

Join in the “Meet and Greet” at the Mountain Village Saloon on March 3rd, 6:00pm.

On Saturday, March 4th, there will be a “Ride with a Guide” at 10:00am, from the Mountain Village Resort Restaurant parking lot.  A “Participant Dinner” at the Mountain Village Resort Restaurant and Saloon will begin at 7:00pm.  Restaurant is available to all ages.  Saloon 21 years and older. There will be games, a silent auction, and raffle.  The Salmon River Snowmobile Club will be raffling off a 2017 Polaris Axys 800 Pro; Husqvarana 460 Rancher chain saw; and $100 Cash.  Tickets are $20 each.  Go to PayPal.Me/SRSCWinPolaris800RMK.

On Sunday, March 5th, the “Casual Day Ride” begins at 10:00am.

FIFTEENTH ANNUAL SAWTOOTH SKI FESTIVAL

DATE: March 4 - 5, 2017

LOCATION: Park Creek Ski Area, Alturas Lake Ski Area, Community Building, Stanley, ID

The Sawtooth Ski Club is hosting their traditional cross-country ski event on Saturday, March 4th and Sunday, March 5th.  Park Creek Ski Area kicks off the festivities on Saturday, from 11:00am to 2:00pm.  Poker run participants, skiers and snowshoers follow a fun course, receive poker cards at checkpoints, and return to the beginning where the best poker hand, called at 1:30pm, wins a new pair of snowshoes.  Come enjoy the homemade chili and treats.  Saturday evening from 5:30pm to 8:30pm at the Stanley Community Building, enjoy the silent auction and more home cooking at the annual Ski Festival dinner, all the while listening to live music.  On Sunday, the final event of this fundraising weekend will take place at the Alturas Lake Ski Trail. Follow the signs from 11:00am to 3:00pm to the Soup Kitchen Social, where hot soups, breads, beverages, and homemade goodies await. Gather your friends and bring a leash for your pooch and your checkbook for this annual Sawtooth Ski Club fundraising weekend.

Awesome Solar Eclipses from Ancient Time Until Tomorrow

Woody Sullivan, Professor of Astronomy at the University of Washington will present a free lecture “Awesome Solar Eclipses from Ancient Time Until Tomorrow“, on August 20, 2017, from 3:00pm to 4:00pm, in the Community Building, Hwy 21, Stanley.  This lecture is open to the public.
