The Sawtooth Mountain Mamas will host the Stanley-Sawtooth Cowboy Poetry Music Gathering on September 4th and September 5th, 2015 in downtown Stanley. On Friday, September 4th, the event schedule will be River 1 back porch at 1:00pm; Mountain Village Resort outside deck at 3:00pm; Stanley Town Square at 6:00pm. On Saturday, September 5th, the event schedule will be Redfish Lake Lodge at 1:00pm; Stanley Town Square at 3:00pm; a Bar-B-Q at Stanley Sluice Brewery at Stanley Town Square at 5:00pm, a Youth Poetry Contest and Quilt Raffle at Stanley Town Square at 6:00pm. All events are free – donations are requested.

LOCATION: Redfish Lake Lodge, Highway 75 south of Stanley

Plein Air Painters of Idaho (PAPI) is a group of artists dedicated to the advancement of on-location painting in Idaho.  You are welcome to observe over 20 artists from all over Idaho in their creative interpretation of the beautiful Sawtooth Mountains, Redfish Lake, and the surrounding wilderness.  PAPI will have a summer exhibition and group paint-out reception at the Redfish Interpretive Center from 12:00noon to 4:00pm on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. There will be free demos every day, culminating with a sale and reception, including hors d’oeuvres and wine, at 5:00 pm on Thursday, September 10th

The Vintage Snowmobiles of Idaho will host their 11th annual Fall Vintage Show, Swap Meet & Snowmobile Expo on Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 10:00am to 4:00pm on the Mountain Village Resort lawn on Highway 21. There will be displays of vintage sleds, exciting promotions from several Idaho dealers, including some new 2015 sleds and other products. There be a swap meet for current and vintage sleds and a State Snowmobile Association representative will be on site to discuss wilderness proposals, backcountry issues, snowmobile access, and much more.

LOCATION: Redfish Lake Lodge

The S.V.R.F.D. and Stanley Ambulance are pleased to invite everyone looking at this to their annual Fireman’s Ball.  You can get the shuttle (runs continuously) starting at 7:00pm at the Mountain Village and on Ace of Diamonds.  A silent auction will take place during the evening to benefit the Sawtooth Valley men and women fire and ambulance volunteers.  Donations to the silent auction are welcome and very much appreciated.

Ryan Anderson, who gave a very informative talk for the summer Forum and Lecture Series, returns to Stanley to lead a bird outing and discussion. Anderson is knowledgeable on binoculars, bird guides, bird mobile apps, and the birds to view in the Stanley area.

To sign up for the Stanley Bird Walk, e-mail the Stanley-Sawtooth Chamber at or stop by the Chamber Visitor Center any time before September 19th. Participants will meet at the Stanley-Sawtooth Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, September 19th, at 9:00am, from where the group will caravan to the Stanley Lake Inlet for a walk from 9:30am to 11:30am. Participants should bring water, appropriate clothing for the weather, and binoculars.
