THIRD ANNUAL SAWTOOTH OUTDOOR BONSPIEL (S.O.B.)

DATE: January 23 - 25, 2015

TIME: 5:00pm, Friday, January 23, 2015

LOCATION: Stanley Outdoor Ice Rink

Boise Curling Club will once again be hosting the Sawtooth Outdoor Bonspiel from January 23 through January 25, 2015 at the Stanley Outdoor Ice Rink. The 2015 S.O.B. will be 16 U.S. and Canadian teams, competing in a 3-day open Bonspiel, with a 3-game guarantee. It is an “open bonspiel”, a tournament open to teams of all ages, genders, and abilities from anywhere in the world.
The S.O.B. will begin at 5:00pm, Friday, January 23rd and end at Noon, January 25th. Specific times for games will be published once they are set.
Spectators can watch the games for free all three days, as well as take a free class in “Learn to Curl” on Saturday, January 24, 2015, Noon (weather permitting).

NORDIC FESTIVAL SAWTOOTH VALLEY

In celebration with the Sun Valley Nordic Festival, the Sawtooth Valley would like to invite everyone to “come over the hill” on Saturday, February 2nd and join in the fun and events listed below:
Skiers Special Breakfast & Brunch, hosted by Smiley Creek Lodge from 8:00am to Noon at  Smiley Creek Lodge, Highway 75.
Sawtooth Winter Wonderland Snowshoe Tour, hosted by Sawtooth Mountain Guides from 12:00 noon to 3:00pm.  Learn about wildlife, forest ecology, snow, avalanches, and winter survival techniques from the experts.  The tour will follow a 2.5 mile snow-covered road to see Redfish Lake, while your guide answers your questions.  This tour is free, but you must bring your own snowshoes or off-trail Nordic equipment. Meet at turnout just north of Redfish Lake Road on Hwy. 75.  Group size limit – 8 people,reservations required through the Stanley Chamber, 208-774-3411.
Stanley Winter Extravaganza: Learn to Curl/Dutch Oven Cooking/Novice Skate Ski Clinic, hosted by the Sawtooth Society and The Redd from 12:00noon to 3:00pm at the Stanley Outdoor Ice Rink and Pioneer Park.  These events are free, but for these three mini-events, please wear warm clothes and bring your skate skis.  Curling does not require special equipment. Group size limit – 8 people for each mini event, reservations required through the Stanley Chamber, 208-774-3411.  Each group of 8 will spend an hour at each event.
Stanley Sluice Ale House Happy Hour, hosted by Stanley Sluice Ale House from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, at the Stanley Town Square.  Warm your toes and whet your appetite with 1/2 off beer, wine and appetizers.
Skiers Special Dinner, hosted by Stanley Sluice Ale House from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Stanley Town Square.  After spending the day exploring the Sawtooth Valley, what could be better than kobe beef steak or vegetarian pasta.  A great selection of beer and wine will also be available.

BACKCOUNTRY BISTRO’S ANNUAL VALENTINE DINNER

DATE: February 14, 2015

LOCATION: BackCountry Bistro, located in the Stanley High Country Inn

The BackCountry Bistro, located inside the Stanley High Country Inn, will be hosting its fifth annual Valentine Dinner, with live music by classical guitarist Glenn Hugunin. All ladies will receive a complimentary glass of wine and a rose.  Seating is limited and reservations are required for this special evening.

SALMON RIVER SNOWMOBILER’S BALL, FUN RUN, AND RAFFLE

DATE: February 14, 2015

LOCATION: Mountain Village Resort Stanley Club

This event is sponsored by the Salmon River Snowmobile Club. Sign up for the Fun Run will take place from 10:00am to noon in the Mountain Village Resort parking lot on Highway 21. Riders will leave from the parking lot and must be back by 3:00pm.

The Snowmobilers Ball will be held at the Mountain Village Resort Stanley Club, at the intersection of Highways 75 and 21, from 9:00pm to 1:00am, with live music by New Transit. There will be a $10 raffle, with top prize – $1,000 cash, 2nd prize – a new Husqvarna 455 Rancher chainsaw from Wayne Butts/Surefire in Challis, 3rd prize $100 cash. There will also be a $1 raffle for prizes of all sorts. There is no cover charge, and you must be 21 years of age to attend.

2015 STANLEY SLED DOG RENDEZVOUS

DATE: February 28 - March 1, 2015

LOCATION: Start - Mountain Village Resort

Stanley is hosting its sixth annual Sled Dog Rendezvous on Saturday, February 28th and Sunday, March 1st. Check-in for this event begins at 5:00pm on Friday, February 27th, with a Mushers Meeting at 7:00pm at the City of Stanley Community Building. On Saturday, race information and check-in are available from 7:30am at the Mountain Village Restaurant, with races starting at 8:30am. This is a two-day event, with mileage split between Saturday and Sunday (8,20,48 total Mileage/4,10,24 miles per heat/per day). Skijoring will take place over both days. Junior races will be held on Saturday only. Come gather around the bonfire and watch these exuberant dogs and trainers under the backdrop of the Sawtooth Mountains.

THIRTEENTH ANNUAL SAWTOOTH SKI FESTIVAL

DATE: March 7 - 8, 2015

LOCATION: Park Creek Ski Area, Alturas Lake Ski Area, Community Building, Stanley, ID

The Sawtooth Ski Club is hosting their traditional cross-country ski event on Saturday, March 7th and Sunday, March 8th.  Park Creek Ski Area kicks off the festivities on Saturday, from 11:00am to 2:00pm.  Poker run participants, skiers and snowshoers follow a fun course, receive poker cards at checkpoints, and return to the beginning where the best poker hand, called at 1:30pm, wins a new pair of snowshoes.  Come enjoy the homemade chili and treats.  Saturday evening from 5:30pm to 8:30pm at the Stanley Community Building, enjoy the silent auction and more home cooking at the annual Ski Festival dinner, all the while listening to live music.  On Sunday, the final event of this fundraising weekend will take place at the Alturas Lake Ski Trail. Follow the signs from 11:00am to 3:00pm to the Soup Kitchen Social, where hot soups, breads, beverages, and homemade goodies await. Gather your friends and bring a leash for your pooch and your checkbook for this annual Sawtooth Ski Club fundraising weekend.
