event

Bike. Eat. Sleep. Wake up in the Sawtooth Valley and do it all over again! Are you ready for a biking adventure? Bike Travel Weekend is June 2 – 4. It was established by Adventure Cycling Association in 2016 to “inspire people from all over the world to go on a bike overnight on the same weekend to promote bicycling as a healthy, sustainable way to travel and recreate with a positive economic impact on the area.”

All you have to do is plan your bicycling trip to include an overnight at your favorite campground, hotel, cabin, B&B or a friend’s backyard. You can stay for one or two nights or incorporate it into a longer trip. Recruit your family and friends or go solo. The possibilities are endless! Hardcore cyclists and toddlers riding with training wheels are all welcome. Tag-along, strider, bike trailers or tandem bikes are all fair game. You can ride for one mile or one hundred miles. Design it anyway you like, it’s your bike trip!

Why not make Stanley your Bike Travel Weekend destination? Although the snow pack in the higher elevations may keep you grounded to the more accessible trails around town, you’re still guaranteed natural beauty and fresh mountain air. Here are a few biking options in the Sawtooth Valley. Fishhook Creek Trail Explore Fishhook Creek Trail on your mountain bike. This relatively flat trail parallels the creek into a lodgepole pine and Douglas fir forest. It’s an ideal starter trail to kick off your mountain biking season.
